She hugged him tighter not wanting to let go. Kas was her family. He had been her family since the first time they met. They just connected. It was hard to explain to other people. It was just how they were. Cands and Kas. But now things were changing. He was going away again. They were going to be separated again. Candice’s heart hurt. She felt the strain of sadness pulling at it. She wiped her eyes quickly before pulling back to look at Kas. “I’ve seen you on the mat, Kas. You’re…you’re so happy there. You have this like permanent joy when you’re slamming a guy down or pinning him. It’s your thing. It’s your thing in this world that you’re exceptionally good at. You’ll always love it.” she shrugged. “But if you don’t. Then you’ll change and do something else. You’re still young enough. But I would take all the opportunities I could now and use them. Use them until you can’t do it anymore.” she nodded. She half laughed and half sobbed at his words, shaking her head. “You have no idea how much I’m going to miss my little brother. You’re my family, Kas.”
It made Kas happy and mournful to hear Cands words. It was nice knowing he made her proud, that she knew how much it meant to him, but he couldn’t stand the sad lilt to her voice. “I don’t want to leave you,” he sniffled into her shoulder. Normally he’d keep it together, but Cands was the only family he had here and knowing she’d be moving here had kept him going. Now he had to move and he’d be all alone again. “You’re my family too,” he said, holding her tight.
Candice turned to look at him. His words seemed to echo in her head. He was leaving. He was going away. She would be without him here. “But…I just moved here…” she said looking at him a bit shocked. She took a few breaths and looked away feeling herself getting upset. She didn’t want Kas to see her upset. She doubted that Kas had seen her cry except once maybe. “I’m sorry. I mean…it’s great that you get to do what you’ve dreamed Kas. They won’t like you…they’ll love you.” she nodded looking down before wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. “This is great news, Kas. Really great news.” she told him letting some tears fall from her eyes.
"I know, I’m sorry Cands," he said as he hugged her, sadness creeping into his tone. "That’s what I’m scared of. I’m not even sure I want this, but it’s my best chance if I do. What if I go through with it and don’t even like it down the line," he said, admitting what he hadn’t been able to tell his coach, to ruin the man’s excitement. "I’m sorry," he said again, feeling himself tearing up now that Cands was. "I don’t want to leave but I feel like I have to at least give it a shot. I’m going to miss you sooo much!"
Cands laughed at his words. “What can I say? You’re a comfortable person and you have so many uses. I can lay on you and I can sit on you. Who could want more?” She looked up at him again as he sighed. His words hit her a little hard. Hadn’t she just come back into town? Hadn’t he begged her to come here so they could hang out all the time? Maybe she was jumping to conclusions. She needed to clarify things. “You mean…like you’re going to visit Mom and Dad? If you’re going without me I’m kicking your ass right now. You said the next time we would go together.” she said ready to set her mouth into a childish pout.
"No, not that," he admitted, getting sadder as he finally told her. "I got accepted to this really elite wrestling camp, Coach didn’t even tell me he’d sent an app in for me. I wouldn’t have done it, but they gave me a probationary period to come train. It’ll just be a few weeks, but…" he continued, getting nervous. "If they like me, I could be there for a few months or indefinitely. It just depends. They want to see if I’m Olympic material."
"That’s a good thing, Kas!" she laughed. "Usually I try to find the cleanest spot and maneuver in that." She grinned as he hugged her and snuggled a little into him. Kas was always warm and smelled good. It was a great to have a friend like him. "Yeah, that’s a good idea. I may fall asleep on you in the middle of it though. I’m not used to cooking for more than me again." she smiled up at him. Her eyebrows furrowed as she saw a hint of worry in his face. "Everything okay? I really meant what I said earlier as a compliment. Did I offend you?"
"That’s ok, I don’t mind being used as a pillow, you already used me as a chair," he laughed, then got a bit sad. He was just getting used to having Cands back and now he was going to leave. "No, you didn’t offend me sis it’s just," he sighed, not sure how to say this. "Something came up and well… I’m going away for a while," he finally answered, biting his lip as he looked at her.
Cands: Candice came skipping out of Kas’ bathroom wearing her pajama shorts and tank top. She had cooked for the boys of the house and got her wish of watching Game of Thrones with them. Maybe she needed to do that every Sunday. It’d be like a family Sunday dinner. She knew that Kas would be all for it, but she wasn’t sure about the others. “You are literally the only guy in the world with that clean of a bathroom. I love it.” she giggled as she hopped on the bed and laid next to him. “Oh my God! Game of Thrones was so good! I was surprised by Little Finger’s return. Didn’t see that one coming at all.” she said with a shake of her head.
Kasper had enjoyed the night, hanging with Lin and Cands, eating a great meal and all. He was just wearing some pajama pants as he sat in the bed, remembering everything that happened in tonight’s episode and worrying about what he had to tell Cands. He’d planned on telling her when they went out, but he had gotten too drunk and then he’d got screwed by some strippers at that afterparty and everything had kind of gone pear shaped after that. “Thanks?” he said, laughing a bit at her odd compliment. “Yeah, it was crazy as always,” he said, giving her a hug as she sat on the bed next to him. “Wanna watch a movie for a bit?”
Never. Hey! I can’t help that you’re comfortable and I’m not even that heavy…
You aren’t heavy. Now shut up I’m waiting for Oberyon.
Biggest compliment ever! I’m not gonna tell Mom though :)
